Movement Snacks

Movement Snacks are one of my favorite snacks. 

 

They can take as little as 3 minutes. 

How about while you are waiting for your morning coffee? 

Waiting for your kids to get out of practice?

Brushing your teeth? (hopefully 2 times per day)

Waiting for the water to boil?

I am going to challenge you to do 3 different movements while you are waiting. 

Check these out:

  • Wall push up
  • Squats, hold onto the counter if you need to
  • Heel raises
  • Forward bend to counter 
  • Wall sit: this one is great while brushing your teeth
  • Standing on 1 leg (Feel free to use the counter to help you balance)

So, here’s where you can start. Instead of picking up your phone and scrolling through the socials, let’s try moving your body. 

What about this…..

Do you work on a building with stairs? 

Walk the stairs instead of taking the elevator. If you are feeling very energetic, run up the stairs. 

Next time you are at the grocery store, park a bit farther away. Maybe walk all the isles for a few more steps. 

These are just a few ideas to get your body moving more during the day. 

 

Even if you get a solid morning workout, please include at least one or two movement snacks during the day. Your body will be grateful and I bet you might even sleep a bit more soundly.
